Well, Tim, you are a smart guy. So I know you know the question I'm asking you. It's not about Ayers' 68 views; it's about whether Daley's relationship with Ayers has hurt Daley politically in Chicago. If there is no data it has, then your notion that it did is simply a thought, a suspicion, and should have been labeled as such.

Moreover, if there is no such data, and I suspect there is none, then the opposite argument would apply, that Chicago influentials think Ayers 2008 views are sufficiently different from his 68 views to pull him into the tent.

Unless Ayers does or says something demonstrably outrageous soon and there is some demonstrable link to Obama, using him in the general election only reminds voters just how petty Republican campaigns have become.
