That isn't how it worked. Yes, I know it isn't how it worked. I said "if" and used the subjunctive and the conditional. "If that were the case, the minority would..." It was a hypothetical to dramatically illustrate how illogical it would be for the "veto" to be aimed at rejecting politically undesirable as opposed to unqualified nominees.
