I'm against the government putting people in boxes when it affects public policy. Individuals can do what ever they want, as long as they allow that they will be wrong some of the time. As a rule, some of my liberal friends have proved themselves more personally likable than some conservatives that I agree with. We are smart enough to agree to not talk about politics because we value the relationship more than we do the opinion. However, some of my conservative friends are the finest people I know. I get the feeling that I'm chasing my tail, so I'll just say we agree on some things and not on others. Read any good books lately?
