Weird is it wasn't THAT intense a storm. It would only be just over a borderline evacuation storm for me...

It is a function of the kind of infrastructure that exists.

Meanwhile they are now saying that 100K people have died in the cyclone in Burma. That must have been one hell of a cyclone.

A lot of the people died on a delta where the population is very dense. The delta was hit by, I think, 20 foot waves.
