I'm not sure of any massive new bill they managed to help defeat, its more a matter of helping to create a political climate where you don't get as many massive new gun control bills. On the state and local level the recent political success is a bit more concrete. You can see some examples here nraila.org And of course they aren't just a political organization, they are active in safety training, marksmanship training and other things related to fire arms, not just opposing gun control.
