Measure it any way you want to. Measure butt height, or foot height, or whatever. High jumpers get their entire bodies up over nearly 8 foot bars. Basketball players, keeping their bodies vertical, don't get their feet aloft by even half that amount. They sure as hell don't get their butts up over 7.9 feet.

Even the "scissor style" jumpers of yesteryear could far out jump the best roundball players of today.

Somebody called high jumpers "technicians". I'd say that no matter how well you understand the technique, getting your ass over a bar that high requires a lot of athletic ability.
