Look at our spectrum of (R)'s here. They range from Dave, who is a troglodyte, to Ten and Jim, who I guess are what pass for moderate (R)'s these days - but both of them are way right.

What happened to the "liberal" (R)? We still have some "conservative" (D)'s.

The (D)'s still represent a spectrum, but the (R)'s have lost all diversity to the (D)'s and the (I)'s.

Interesting op ed today by david brooks. You should take a look. Talks about a different type of conservative gaining power in europe, particularly great britain. More based on sociology than reagan-thatcher nomics. New demographics require bottom up approach rather than liberal/socialist top down. While i was reading the piece i thought about some folks on SI who might be more like new cons than old libs. Again, take a look. I would be interested in your take.

I doubt they will lose MS but if they do, then regional party status for the GOP is pretty much guaranteed.

The Neo fringe has really hurt the party. When you have Dick Cheney/Bush setting the ideology and the David Rays spouting it, it just doesn't play well. I'm sure that the majority of moderate Republicans are completely disillusioned.

Watch now that Obama is close to the presumptive candidate... he should start moving up in the polls as McCain moves down.

Why do you doubt that? Technically, we won a couple weeks ago in MS. This is a runoff because our guy came 1% short of 50% in the first vote.
