I heard that prices were rising. I have hoarded some rice. Not for ethanol, but to eat. Though if I got a sake recipe, it could turn into a new hobby.

Now that politicians are turning off their dopey biofuels ideas, and CO2 fears are being dialed back as hunger this year seems more important than moving 40 cm uphill 100 years from now, some sense is returning.

That's not how I see it.

Silicon Valley types are busy inventing the electric car, which will drive the internal combustion engine out of business. The use of ethanol as a gasoline additive/substitute will gradually fade away.

Ethanol might find use in fuel cells, but it will have to compete against better batteries storing electricity from multiple sources.
