I tasted a number of Pinot Noirs and Zinfandels at the tasting; the hors'doeuvre's were pretty good, but I ended up buying "Selbach 2006 Riesling Auslese" (17.99). Apparently not much was bottled and this distributor bought all 100 cases available. I liked it and my wife mainly likes dessert-types wines so that's what we got. I didn't find the reds to my (amateur) liking. I did read a recent study that found that amateurs preferred (blind) lower priced wines, versus experienced oenophiles who preferred the much more expensive ones.

The advantage of being an amateur with an unsophisticated palate!

Bring on the Ripple and the MD2020.
