He has said that he would offer carrots not until he runs out but until such time in his judgement it is working. He has also said that he would be ready to act if in his judgement he sees things are not working out.

His stated approach is to not work out pf any prejudice towards a particular issue.

For the record and an important distinction: Obama has said he'd be willing to meet without precondition..

Since Iran is holding elections in 09, he said recently it would be a mistake to meet with Amadinejad to give him that publicity when the moderate citizens of Iran are trying to unseat him...
