i've often wondered why so many of them are in what seems to be a perpetual attack mode, and the following might be an explanation:

...Then of course, there is the blogosphere. What's to keep a small fund with very impressive numbers but no visibility from anonymously posting a quick story on a well-trafficked Web site? Like a virus, blog posts spread from one site to the next. In this way, funds are having their cake and eating it, too--in big, tasty oversized bites--since there is no direct solicitation, but the word is out. Too bad for reporters trying to confirm the story: Regulation D gets in the way....
