In the article they calculated it for 2 cars traveling 15000 Miles each So its 192 per car per month (in the US) or 410 (in Europe). I assumed 1.40 for the Diesel in Europe which is now the norm. In some places like Germany 1.50 is very common.

Actually I was surprised to see that 25mpg is labelled economic. Thats nearly 10liter/100 km (thats how me measure here), but new economy cars do 36 mpg easily.

1609.34 meter/mile
3.79 liter/gallon

25.00 mpg 9.41 l/100km

15,000.00 miles 24,140.16 km

600 gallons 3.85 $/g 2,310.00 192.5

2,271.25 liters 1.40 EUR/l 3,179.75
1.55 USD/EUR 4,928.61 410.72
