Not really. And, as heartless as it may sound, I have no sympathy for these people. I don't care what your educational or economic background background is wrong is wrong. I suspect there were very few people who did not know what they were doing was wrong but greed one out the day.

To bail these people out would be like handing a child a lollipop, after having been found to have stolen, with the admonishment "I know you didn't mean to do it". Human nature is as human nature does.

My wife has a friend who is a CPA, who decided she was going to invest in properties all over the country. I don't know who sold her the properties, but they promised her positive cash flow by renting them out, or appreciation in price with a minimum of cash drain.

Needless to say, she is completely buried with about 10 properties. She sent us a summary of all the properties and wants to know if we are interested in taking over any of them.

uh ... no thanks.

Even well educated people got greedy and stupid. There are several programs here in LA on weekend talk radio that has these RE touts selling these exact types of deals.

Here is the radio station page, it seems like all of the weekend stuff is "sponsored," as they make no bones about selling stuff as part of the main programming:

971freefm.com

Here are the pages of the sponsors of the individual shows listed.

971housecalls.com

971roundtable.com (this one seems like the worst, they are advertising crap like "rehab Detroit" and "rehab Jackson" and offering turnkey solutions)

cov411.com
