Xohming into Clearwire

The move there looks more like a refined strategy for cashing out rather than anything to do with creating a cash generating cow. McCaw has a history of getting into technology early and cashing out inferior offerings on the backs of others. In that sense, Clearwire is no different than the cable outfit he inherited from his father and built up with other people's money. Then there was Teledisc and XO and, of course, Nextel with all it's convoluted partnership arrangements whose US holdings mostly ended up in the hands of Sprint.

It is hard to retain on-going faith in a deal maker and definitely not one who is only marginally classifiable as a true visionary builder. When getting into bed with that type, timing is all that matters.

Lot's of this kind of stuff around ...
