Some people carry a bat in their car, but for those who do, it's wise to carry a ball and glove too.

While we have never had break in problems in the town home complex I've lived in for 28 years, I made some changes a couple years ago when I turned 70. I had a new front door installed with a small window. I also have a strategically place mirror on the wall near the door that lets me see through that window to see who's at the door without that person realizing I can do so. Then, just inside the closet door next to the front room door I have a loaded tear gas gun on the top shelf. I also have a baseball bat leaning against the wall just inside that closet. Not sure which one I'd go for first, but I lean toward the bat.

Thats just it...I don't feel the threat justifies the danger of having a loaded gun under my bed.

We have young nephews and nieces visit us and I can't ever take that chance of forgetting to secure it every time visitors come over.

I live in Wisconsin...its probably one of the safest places on the planet for violent crime anyway (if you stay out of Milwaukee)...its just nice to know you have an option for a worst case scenario.

A bat still isn't a bad idea though.

<<If you can't keep it at or under your bed, loaded and ready to go, try something else. >>

Years ago a guy who couldn't get a firearm owners ID bought a sawed off a 12 ga. sawed off magnum side by at a bar for $100. It had been used in a drive by that missed and the owner wanted to get rid of it. I bought it from the new owner for $50 when he realized he could go to jail for having it.

I took it to the police and it checked out clean. Stock was cracked and I bought a new one over the net and inletted it to fit. Darn gun shoots a nicer pattern than my Valmet Premium Grade.

Good thing about a side by with two triggers is if you pull one trigger and hear click ya have a whole 'nother gun waiting to be shot.
