My dad died almost 40 years ago and among his effects was a small pistol that held caps with some waxy substance in them. My mother, sister and I had no clue what this pistol was for (my parents were divorced) so one day we brought it over to the police station in town. The cop we showed it to had no idea either, so he held up a piece of paper with one hand, the pistol in the other hand, and fired at the paper. It was a tear gas pistol, and they had to evacuate that part of the police station. I bet that cop heard about that for a LONG time.
