Did you see how enthusiastic Carter was for Obama? He was asked about him, and had clearly agreed not to endorse him outright, but gave Obama the broadest of nudge, nudge, wink, wink endorsements anyway. Jimmy Carter is man of enormous sanctimony and no discipline whatsoever.

In any case, a bad choice of words

Yes, an extremely distasteful choice of words, all the more because he doesn't even realize how it sounds, probably for the very reasons you cite regarding his former pro-Pal colleagues and current campaign advisors. His use of the words "sore" and "infect" in conjunction with Israel have particularly sneering, Jeremiah Wright tone.

I posted as I did because "Obama calls Israel an open sore" reminded me of the slimy "McCain wants to get American troops killed in Iraq for a Hundred years!" meme.

As Shelby Steele points out in his excellent book, The Bound Man, the more specific Obama-the-Bargainer becomes on an issue, the more voters he alienates - that's the bind he's in. The sooner McCain is able to pin Obama down on particulars, the sooner Obama will be finished.

I fear that deep in his heart, we have another "Jimmy Carter" here.
Same here.
