When I was banned in the past, having members post in my defense was helpful, similarly when people I liked were banned, we mounted a defense and that got them back, but I don't think they reduce time-outs. I could be wrong. This is why it doesn't pay to insult people on SI, at least not in an objectionable manner. Flame wars blow back.
