You mean that the less educated maybe shouldn't vote? Plenty of Obama followers meet that standard as well.

Americans are Americans and their votes all count you elitist bastard!

Kenneth, there is no excuse for supporting either party today. Stop making excuses for yourself.

'Is Obama Smarter Than a 5th Grade Jaywalker?'
By Doug Patton (05/13/08)

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has an indicted, Syrian-born Chicago shyster named Tony Rezko for a financial mentor. He has a screwball, race-baiting, America-hating pastor named Jeremiah Wright for a spiritual mentor. He has an unrepentant domestic terrorist named William Ayers for a political mentor. And he has one of the angriest wives ever to aspire to the position of First Lady.

Obama refuses to wear a flag lapel pin because he thinks it is more patriotic to criticize his country than to support it, or even to wear a symbol of its support.

Obama thinks those of us out here in flyover country are all a bunch of bitter, gun-toting, Bible-thumping bigots furious at “those who don’t look like us.”

That really should be enough to sink this lightweight candidacy filled with vague language about “hope” and “change” - what George Will has called “rhetorical cotton candy.”

But wait. There’s more. Just when we thought Obama had shot himself in the last foot he had available, he presents us with another gift.

On top lapelgate and pastorgate and bittergate, now comes stategate. It seems that the brilliant Barack Obama doesn’t know how many states there are in our union. In an off-the-cuff statement you will not hear about on the nightly news, Obama declared that during his presidential campaign, he has visited 57 states. He also said that he has one more to visit: Alaska and Hawaii. I swear to you, that’s what the man said.

Here are his exact words: “I’ve now been to 57 states...I have one more to go...they wouldn’t let me go to Alaska and Hawaii.”

Now, try to imagine if John McCain - or any other Republican - had uttered such a stupid statement in public. Is there any doubt that person would have been pilloried and Dan Quayled for the remainder of this campaign? (At least when Quayle questioned the spelling of potato, he had some basis in fact for his inquiry: the plural of the word is “potatoes” - with an “e.”)

McCain is still being vilified for referring to Iran-supported terrorists in Iraq as al Qaida, as if the vast majority of Americans care about the distinction between a Sunni and a Shiite terrorist.

Entire books have been written about the gaffes of George W. Bush. He has been castigated for everything from his mispronunciation of the word “nuclear” (he always says “nucular”) to his inability to communicate with the press. His mangled syntax has been regular fodder for the crew at “Saturday Night Live” for his entire two terms in office. “Misunderestimated” was always one of my personal favorites.

But even the most misinformed American can tell you this country has 50 states, having learned that information in what? Kindergarten?

But fear not, Obama supporters; excuses will be made by the mainstream media. “He was tired,” we will be told, or “he misspoke.” And they will only tell you that if they are forced to report on the matter at all. The New York Times (and most other major newspapers), CNN, ABC, CBS, tax-supported PBS and especially NBC are so pro-Obama it is downright embarrassing, and make no mistake, they will continue to circle the wagons around this guy, just as they have done throughout this campaign.

Perhaps Obama should be a contestant on Fox’s “Are you smarter than a 5th grader?” Or maybe Jay Leno could interview him out on Hollywood Boulevard as part of his Tonight Show “Jay Walking” segment.

How many of our states have you been to, Senator Obama? Fifty-seven? That’s very impressive. I hope you get the chance to see the other one. Or is it two?

Rezko Trial Winds Down with Impact Uncertain
By Mark Impomeni
May 13th 2008 8:00AM
Filed Under:eDemocrats, Barack Obama, 2008 President, Scandal

The public corruption trial of businessman and political fundraiser Tony Rezko is expected to end today with closing arguments entered by both sides in Federal District court in Chicago. Rezko stands accused of engaging in kickback schemes involving two powerful Illinois state boards totaling $7 million. Rezko raised funds for a number of prominent Illinois officials, including Sen. Barack Obama, and the outcome of the trial could have an impact on the presidential race. While Obama is not accused of any wrongdoing, a Rezko conviction would be a major embarrassment to his campaign.

The timing of the trial could not have been worse for Obama, whose relationship to Rezko remains in question. Rezko assisted Obama with the purchase of his suburban Chicago home and was a prominent financial backer of the former community organizer's various political campaigns. In 2005, while Rezko was known to be under Federal investigation, Obama entered into a complicated financial transaction involving Rezko to purchase his $1.6 million home while Rezko's wife purchased the adjacent lot, which the home's owner agreed to split off from the property, for $625,000. The Obamas paid $300,000 less than the asking price for the house. Later, Rezko sold a portion of the adjacent lot to the Obamas for $105,000, rendering Rezko's parcel practically unusable. After first stonewalling on questions about the deal, Obama has since admitted that his involvement with Rezko in the transaction lacked judgment, calling it, "a bone-headed mistake."

Federal prosecutors said in their closing argument yesterday that Rezko used the state Health Facilities Planning Board and the state pensions board to extort monies out of companies wishing to gain state contracts. At least three of the members of the Health Facilities Planning Board, including the chairman, made contributions to Rezko before being appointed. Rezko's alleged partner in the scheme, Stuart Levine, testified at the trial that he and Rezko planned to split a $1.5 million kickback paid by a company that wanted to build a hospital in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Prosecutors said that Rezko wan an intimate part of a "corrupt ring of individuals." "He joined the corrupt scheme, he acted in furtherance of it and he did it for money," U.S. Attorney Reid Schar said.

Rezko's lawyers dismissed the allegations from Levine, pointing to his admittedly long history of illegal drug use. "He said he is a felon, he admitted he is a liar many times over, he said he is a thief, and I don't know if he said he was a drug addict, but he was a drug abuser," defense attorney Joseph Duffy said.

However the verdict comes down, the renewed focus on the Obama-Rezko relationship could be bad for Obama's campaign. Fresh off his victory and closer-than-expected loss in North Carolina and Indiana last week, Obama is making the case that the Democratic nomination contest is essentially over. But his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, is not yet backing down, and is stressing that she is the more electable candidate for the general election. A Rezko conviction will invite a reexamination of the relationship, tenuous as it may be, between him and Obama. That is surely not the kind of general election campaign kick-off that the Obama campaign envisioned.

I'll bet WV 5th graders know how many states are in the Union. Wouldn't go dissing WV's intellect when your own candidate isn't as informed.

Wow, a 41% blowout! I read that if the MI and FL ballots are counted, Hillary will end up having gotten a majority of the popular vote nationwide.

Just think how badly McCain will beat Obama. I hope we see a decisive McGovern like defeat.

In My World: Obama Responds to His Loss in West Virginia

Frank J is on your wavelength, Kenneth.

Posted by Frank J. at 11:31 AM

Senator Barack Obama has a some very introspective remarks for his concession speech after losing by 41 points in the West Virginia primary:

"Do you not see the flag pin, you inbred, hillbilly retards?! I wore a @#$% flag pin for you mouth breathers! I broke my campaign's only strongly held principle -- not being patriotic -- for you! My friends won't even look at me when I have it on. I even found Ayers trying to put a bomb on my car. What more do you want from me?

"Is it because I'm black? Is that why you @#$% crackers won't vote for me? Now I know why my wife hates America. Well, you better hope I don't get the presidency, because I will install Ray Nagin as ruler of West Virginia and he will chocolatize your state. When you bitterly head to church on Sunday, you'll find Wright preaching there about how God wants us to kill honkeys.

"So go pluck your banjos while you can, white trash. And does anyone want a flag pin? I don't have any use for it anymore."
