You've articulated the problems with our country nicely.

Soooooo....

What is your attainable solution? Ron Paul is not an acceptable answer.

Where do you want (or propose us all) to move?

To borrow a line from Jack Nicholson speaking to Diane Keaton in the so named movie;

"This is As Good As It Gets."

My solution would be:

- Demand our present Govt. stop poking its nose in other cultures biz when we can't even get our own working right; we can help but we can't control or influence other cultures.

- Think about transferring the greatest percentage of our Govt. tax money spent on the Military Industrial Complex to 'edumacating' our citizens to compete more efficiently in design & manufacturing. IMHO that would solve 80% of our nations problems

-"Focus on the Family." meaning educating & promoting the collective LEGAL US citizens of our country.

- True, we are not an island, but I'm pretty confident we can survive on our own w/o anybody else's help or detrimentally damage our earth in the process.

...Pie in the sky dreams & wishes,

Tim

populace capable of filling high tech white collar jobs

Labor arbitrage is most evident in high tech therefore where is the paradise you suggest? The jobs are being exported because of cheap labor. You point out Toyota as a success story but some say the middle class isn't doing well in Japan either.

Education is overrated. The MBA's, accountants, lawyers, etc are educated? Other than contributing to destruction of industry, legalized fraud, and being experts in exploitation...what skills do these people really have?

The public has been dumbed down to the point where it was a piece of cake for the Bush Boys to take their eye off the ball. One hand on the bible. The other in YOUR WALLET. Jon Stewart just skewered an ex-administration official last night who wrote a book about how the Iraq decisions were just "Bad Judgment" and no intent to deceive. Man was he on the wrong side of that discussion. I never heard anyone stutter that much. Anyway, the country gets what it deserves. Back in the 60's, there would have been riots all over the place. Not these days. Just fat and dumb 'till the train hits ya.

States will start fighting each other to see who can give more tax credit to get people employed. Jobs must be created as the state loses its capacity to provide services.
Even 'services' like jail will be curtailed. Witness Arnold California’s wanting to free the felons to cut costs.

Job creating is becoming the word 'du jour'.

US needs to transform itself -quite quickly- into an export juggernaut as the country needs to pay for the goods and services it imports with exports like any other country.

Debt unlimited is ending right now.

Ron, I'm sure much of what you said echos true for many
here. The cause of America's ills can be debated endlessly,
as can be the cures. And your point on the insidious nature
of inflation, can not be over-stated.

It is both a hidden tax, and the main weapon of both
central bankers, and the NWO elitists.

It's the mechanism for wealth transfer and theft.

The insidious nature of inflation, is that much like
arteriosclerosis... it's a silent killer.

We need to eliminate the Fed's dual mandate of full
employment/maximum economic growth and price/inflation
control, and change to a single mandate of price/inflation
control.

As mentioned earlier, if the USD had merely maintained
parity with the Euro, Oil would be $80 today, not $125+.

All fiat currencies (like all speculations),
end the same way.... badly.

We need to return to a gold, or commodity basket
based currency, but that will only occur if we
enter an 1930's-esque depression, or see a total
collapse of the US Dollar, or the global financial
system.

The tool of inflation will need to be pried from the cold,
dead hands of central bankers and politicians.

...now there's a starting point.
