Citi falls after Capital One says sell

Shares of Citigroup led all decliners in the financial sector Tuesday, falling 4% after Capital One Financial Corp. analysts called recent gains in the shares overdone and said that the stock should be sold.

"While our main concern remains credit-quality deterioration, which appears to be accelerating, we are also increasingly worried about the prospects for near- to intermediate-term revenue growth," the analysts remarked.

Capital One said it's particularly cautious about slowing loan growth and weakening consumer spending, and added that it expects both metrics to contract.
