Not sure if this is true.....supplies of the grains keep turning up. Plus the growing season is underway, and plantings worldwide of rice, wheat, soybeans, and corn is looking quite good. In China, hog prices are even falling....after years of shortages due to disease of hogs plus skyrocketing feed costs.

All the headlines of inflating food prices in China last fall usually failed to mention that Chinese food inflation was almost entirely due to ONE thing....pork prices.

Time will tell, of course, but my guess is that all the stories of shortages, etc. are coming about as more of an explantation to explain the run-ups in commoditiy crop prices than being grounded in facts.
