"As to his being a "radical" when Obama was 8 years old, it should be pointed out that Ayres has reaffirmed his actions more recently and even gone so far as to say, "We should have done more". "

If he's so terrible, such a threat, why is he allowed freedom

You don't get arrested for speaking out in support of your previous support of terrorism. We have a first amendment in the US.

He was certainly a member of an organization that did plant bombs, and its not like he was all that distant from the bomb making. His girlfriend was blown up making a bomb, and he and other associates "went underground" to avoid being questioned and possibly arrested in connection with the planned bombing.

Then in 2001 he said - ''I don't regret setting bombs, I feel we didn't do enough.". Also - So, would Mr. Ayers do it all again, he is asked? ''I don't want to discount the possibility,'' he said.

Of course he hasn't "done it again", and at this point I doubt he will. He isn't much a current terrorist threat, but he was in the past, and decades later continued to publicly support the bombings.

Why isn't he in jail now? Well if we was convicted back in the 60s he probably would have been out of prison. He wasn't convicted because the case was dismissed due to prosecutorial misconduct.
