Actually lets assume that global warming caused by rising CO2 emissions and the rising% of CO2 in the atmosphere has nothing to do with any possible global warming. The efforts to trim petroleum use still make incredible economic sense. Not only would switching to an increasing percent of our energy use from renewable sources- not including ethanol--save us tons of $$$ in two ways --lowering import costs and even potentially reducing the price of petroleum but also it would employ hundreds of thousands, possibly more, Americans. What is wrong with that-- also the remaining oil reserves could be used more and more for higher value things instead of being burned inefficiently.
