do not fuss, just join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a group of equals comprised of Russia, China, central Asian states, and soon to be Iran, already observed and so accompanied by Mongolia, Pakistan, and India. At some juncture, a proclaimation, "attack on any one is an attack on all". I would expect Japan will want in soon enough, at which time Australia will have to make a choice to determine its destiny. Venezuela, rich in everything except firepower, may be ahead of Brazil. The world order will evolve in ways we cannot predict, but can be 'scenariolized'.
