In GB and even in europe, conservatives are redefining themselves and changing from just being eco cons a la reagan-thatcher to realizing govt should play a role. New cons view sociology more than economics and view a bottom up govt role---local govt rather than from top down which is the still the model of the left. So over the next 5-10 years republicans might seize the opportunity here that cons have in GB and europe. The fatal flaw of liberalism over time is the top down strategy which just hasnt worked as euros are finding out now. Depends on what you are talking about; for some things it works for other it doesn't. Can't plan and build an interstate highway system bottom up. But RIP Neos we know they didn't work at anything.
