M3 in 1943-45 was over 20%, CPI in 1946 was 20%.

M3 in 1978-79 was about 12%, CPI in 1980-81 was about 12%.

M3 in 2006 was about 8%, CPI w/o lies in 2008 is about that on a conservative basis.

M3 in 2007 was about 11-12%.
M3 so far in 2008 ranges from 14-20%.

This rule or pattern doesn't always work, but it doesn't pay to ignore it.
