I figure Obama will sew up the Dem nomination. Those folks are so race conscious and have invested themselves so deeply into the race card that they will be unable to do anything else [And here Hill thought for years that she'd be the coronated 'first'...lol.]

Anyway, I think Obama will select a Governor running mate. Here's the list:

Current Governor State Past Took office Seat Up
Janet Napolitano Arizona List 2003 2010 (term limits)
Mike Beebe Arkansas List 2007 2010
Bill Ritter Colorado List 2007 2010
Ruth Ann Minner Delaware List 2001 2008 (term limits)
Rod R. Blagojevich Illinois List 2003 2010
Chet Culver Iowa List 2007 2010
Kathleen G. Sebelius Kansas List 2003 2010 (term limits)
Steve Beshear Kentucky List 2007 2011
John Elias Baldacci Maine List 2003 2010 (term limits)
Martin O'Malley Maryland List 2007 2010
Deval Patrick Massachusetts List 2007 2010
Jennifer M. Granholm Michigan List 2003 2010 (term limits)
Brian Schweitzer Montana List 2005 2008
John Lynch New Hampshire List 2005 2008
Jon Corzine New Jersey List 2006 2009
William B. "Bill" Richardson New Mexico List 2003 2010 (term limits)
David Paterson New York List 2008 2010
Michael F. "Mike" Easley North Carolina List 2001 2008 (term limits)
Ted Strickland Ohio List 2007 2010
C. Bradford "Brad" Henry Oklahoma List 2003 2010 (term limits)
Theodore R. "Ted" Kulongoski Oregon List 2003 2010
Edward G. "Ed" Rendell Pennsylvania List 2003 2010 (term limits)
Philip N. "Phil" Bredesen Tennessee List 2003 2010 (term limits)
Timothy M. Kaine Virginia List 2006 2009 (term limits)
Christine Gregoire Washington List 2005 2008
Joseph "Joe" Manchin III West Virginia List 2005 2008
James E. "Jim" Doyle Wisconsin List 2003 2010
David D. "Dave" Freudenthal Wyoming List 2003 2010 (term limits)

Conventional wisdom in my house favors Bill Richardson, but we're open to other suggestions. [Personally, I dislike people with nicknames in quotes...lol.]

Unless, I am forgetting my history, McCain vote "yea" on the Ginsberg nomination. I believe Senators Smith and Nickles were the only two who opposed the left wing radical ACLU/NOW lawyer.

McCain believes in Senatorial courtesy to Presidents, which includes letting them select judges of their preferred ideological stripe. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was not unqualified.

It does not follow that a President McCain will select liberal judges.
