While the BLS reported the April unadjusted rise in gasoline price was 5.6%, according to AAA as reported today by McClatchy Newspapers, the nationwide average for a gallon of unleaded was $3.29 on April 1, and $3.62 on April 30, a 33 cent rise, or just over 10%, nearly twice the increase reported by the Gubmint. One response printed in the LA Times, "The data released by the Labor Department 'weren't worth the paper they were printed on,' said Scott Anderson, senior economist with Wells Fargo & Co. in Minneapolis. 'We expect a stinging rebuke to this in May, when we expect a significant jump in the index.'" (Wanna bet???)
