Both the fire ants and these new ants seem to be attracted to electrical devices. Seems like you could use that to kill them.
When I lived in the country, the fire ants would kill my well pump periodically, and I'd have to clean all the toasted ants off the electrical parts that were shorting it out.

Especially when it floods. Their cute little trick of forming a ball and floating there, waiting for someone to get too close...

Why do they sting? Is is a defense, or do they get something out of it?
