Bush did so, IMO, because the da*m fools here in this country so far have conspired to stop any US drilling, or building of new refineries, but on the other hand have caused us to have hundreds of "botique" blends of gas to be refined by the few refineries we do have.


To say nothing of the fact the current cost of gas is starting to put a STOP to much of everything in this country. Including shipments of food and other aid supplies to those in need around the world.

Politics, of course. And as long as the chattering monkeys in Congress insist of doing exactly the wrong things regarding energy policy, expect prices to continue to climb.

If we get a large hurricane in the wrong part of the Gulf this summer, then "Katie bar the door"...
