Well, considering we use 21 Million Barrels of Oil a Day, those old refineries don't seem to bee too many when we look at their age, and the numbers of people they serve, plus the number of barrels they can refine at any given time.

these are companies that refine oil products but not necessarily produce gasoline and heating oil etc.

for example this refinery is primarily a lubricants refinery.
