I think your explanation is correct. Didn't Hillary call Obama's plan to sit down with the bad guys and talk without preconditions "foolish and naive"? She was right. This national infatuation with a green guy like Obama is absolutely fascinating. So far I was unable to really understand it -- we need a good social psychoanalyst (if there are such people) to help figure this out.

My contrarian prediction: Obama will travel the John Edwards route in public perception, and be considered a lightweight by the time of the general election.

God, I hope so. Obama would lead us into a long night of forced Unions, Trade protection, enormous Liability Lawyer power and a down economy that Congress would make just worse and worse.

Sounds like a plan.

The MSM will keep stirring the pot with misinformation, false leads and subject changing in an effort to keep the public's mind off Obama's weaknesses which are endless.

Speaking of Edwards - Scrappleface's take on Edwards late endorsement of Obama:

Edwards Finally Endorses Obama, Mulls Derby Pick
by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 37 Comments

(2008-05-15) — Former Democrat presidential hopeful John Edwards Wednesday endorsed Sen. Barack Obama’s White House bid, but said he’s still undecided about which horse to pick in the Kentucky Derby, which was run on May 3.

Sen. Obama welcomed the support of the one-term senator who is, thus far, 0-for-3 in attempts to win a post in the executive branch of the U.S. government.

“Coming as it does after nearly all of the primaries are finished,” Sen. Obama said, “The timing of John Edwards’ endorsement illustrates what he often says. There are two Americas: One that backs a candidate in the heat of battle when he really needs help, and another that sucks up to the victor when his triumph is clearly at hand.”

Meanwhile, Democrat presidential rival Sen. Hillary Clinton said, “I’m a fighter, and I remain determined to secure John Edwards’ endorsement. I’ll continue to pursue him up through the convention, and even during President Obama’s inaugural address if necessary.”
