That was wonderful JR, thank you so much.

Many do not know, but Dylan was the undiputed king of the hard core counter culture/existential movement people, of the 60's i.e. not the Beatles-lol. And Joan Baez always suffered unrequited love for Dylan. Well maybe not exactly unrquited-lo. He was king!

I was going to college in the Bay area at the time. The minute I saw the movement I "joined"-lol. I was made an outcast and ostrasized by every one of my friends including my dad.

But, I never had any doubts it was the right path.

Another thing the kids might not know is that Herman Hesse was the most widely read author at the time.

Creativity flourished. There were two populations of "hippies": those who rejected society, the status quo (Berkeley types), and those who were rejected by society).

It was an intellectual movement first and foremost. Like a little chick breaking out of the egg of historical dogma we looked around at our new world of freedom and wondered what is this all about and what do we do?

For myself, I laid on a couch for two years and read all the great authors I could think of in the morning to see if I could understand what there was to know?

Then at night we would roam from house to house getting stoned and listening to Dylan-lol. Went to the filmore and haight every weekend. I had so much fun and learned so much.

Every house had candles and incense and pot on their coffee table-lol. But we called it grass. Ironically only the straight world called it pot and now everyone calls it pot-lol.

In the end the straightts won I guess-lol.

I still remain true to the spirt of the 60's.

I wore out the album Highway 61 revisted.
