A friend of mine who is an economics professor has done a bunch of research on this -- until minimum wage gets close to the going rate for trained labor, it shouldn't have much of an effect on the unemployment rate. Of course, over the last several years the going rate for trained labor has decreased a lot, but it's still nowhere near seven bucks an hour. >Consumer confidence has plummeted because the democrats are using the same campaign tactics which helped Clinton get elected. With their 90% democrat media repeating on every news cast that the world is coming to an end unless we elect another Jimmy Carter, consumer confidence has no where to go but down.
