Recently, had a friend(not gay) to marry in the Catholic Church. The couple did two ceremonies-----one was done in the late winter as a civil union under the laws of the USA and the second ceremony was done after several months of instruction to confirm the marriage in the sight of God via the Catholic Church.

Marriage for most religions is between a man and woman. Within a marriage one begets children.

The ruling in California will be a factor in the General Election as it spurs people to consider what California has approved.

It will be fascinating to see how the candidates position and reposition themselves on gay civil unions and gay marriage.

From a purely legal perspective is a married couple entitled to anything denied a civilly unionized couple?

depends on the law in the state.
