That's why MQ is not here now. because he thinks that this is a vehicle for his humoiur of dubious quality. That's not how I remember it. He made a comment about some green guy getting murdered by thugs in Amazonia to which you objected. I personally think you acted precipitously, but it is something I don't get too excited about as there are lots of places for Mq and I to ramble. However, I do think that his absence robs this place of some of its richness and flavor. I think Mq's sense of humor and irony is fabulous. It has a tongue-in-cheekiness quality which you don't like but which I find tremendous. I find it interesting that you find it necessary to discuss Mq so much. Sounds like you might be having second thoughts about banning him.

No disagreement on television. The net though for all its warts has one huge difference.. Anyone can provide content... likely it's greatest weakness (like democracy where everyone gets a vote) but similarly possibly it's greatest strength.. so the net is not television... As users one cannot help but wonder over peoples choices though... in both cases... I don't think formal education is such a waste... The point folks miss is not that it is a time to develop thinking abilities and learn about tools to do such.. If that is not accomplished then no matter how high the marks it has been a failed experience IMO.. I learned much especially in high school where I went to a private school (my choice not the parents). Was great experience. Many roads I may never have traveled otherwise.. Everything we write here is subject to scrutiny... Bush and Leno ? Bush is not funny like Leno but truth be told I rarely see Leno except by accident.. I prefer the Jon Stewarts, Stephen Colberts and Rick Mercers of this world.. That's why MQ is not here now Certainly your prerogative and certainly not that I always agree with Mq.. however.. one thing about the old Booms Bust was that it was not a choir.. There are many choirs on SI which can be fun for a while but they become stale for obvious reasons.. Unfortunately the old thread became too full of noise. again though you are the maestro here :O) The Black Swan
