Bob -

Obviously, you're talking about the oil companies. But wouldn't they also profit from having those restrictions removed? If they could pump more oil on this side of the Atlantic, and not have to share the wealth with their Middle Eastern partners, they'd just make more money on it.

- Allen

Allen - only a very few companies would profit from less restrictions. That is not the question though. Who now profits from the restrictions? That is the question.

I submit that the oil companies are profitting from the restrictions. If the age old mantra of follow the money is done - who is profitting from the restrictions?

I think those who support restrctions should clearly state who their actions are benefitting. I will name one - Bearcatbob - my energy stocks are doing great. Who else is profitting?

Look at the offshore drillers - do they care - Petrobras is monopolizing the deep rigs. This whole thing is simply crazy.

Someone must be profitting!

re energy ..

I know that I'm kind of a broken record here .. but

hemp

hemp produces four times as much paper fiber per acre than does wood.

hemp seed oil .. bio fuel? the deisel engine was designed to run on hemp seed oil.

I don't know what the ratio is but I'm sure that hemp seed oil can be produced at a rate that is much greater than ethanol per acre.

And the pollen produced by hemp destroys marijuana being grown for recreational purposes. (which is why I'm slow to mention it)
