I do agree about this to some extent. It is clear that over the next 25 years there will develop an absolute glut of oil, as electric vehicles begin replacing petroleum-power. You would expect it to have some marginalizing effect on Islam.

However, if we keep in mind that most of that oil wealth is in the hands of only a few, the extent to which Islam may recede might be limited. In particular, the extreme forms (as with AQ) live like cave men in the first place, so I don't know how it will affect them.

But I do agree -- there is some significant change that is going to take place by virtue of the migration away from petroleum, and it may mitigate any threat from Islam somewhat.
