The problem with that kind of rant is that it's just not true.

You are totally free to talk about Obama's ears. He himself has often made fun of them.

So he starts out with a flat-out lie ... why should I listen to what he has to say if he starts out with a lie?

You know, MM, that kind of posting is usually done just to provoke. It offers nothing of any real substance; Rush is just making it up as he goes based on the most superficial of observances to play to his dittoheads, who love that stuff. So I have to wonder exactly what your goal would be, what real discussion you wanted, from posting it. Cuz I sure don't see one. obviously all those things ARE being discussed, by others and by Obama himself.

Dale has always tried to discourage that type of column, both from the left and the right. You see it with Coulter and you see it with Bill Maher or Franken. It's junk.

MM -

I'm amazed that you not only listen to that drivel, but believe it has enough merit to post it. Rush is a gasbag and a clown.

You can't talk about Mrs. Obama, but if she's an issue in this campaign he can't blame the republicans for it because she speaks on his behalf.

BARACK OBAMA: You know, let me just interject on this. The GOP, should I be the nominee, I think can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record, if they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable.

Wow, wouldn't it be a shocker if we had a presidential campaign about the issues that the voters actually care about?

This whole BS of defining and smearing and trying to tip a 50.x% election by bashing folks around is such useless, dysfunctional crap that I'm not surprised Rush is frustrated he can't just wallow in that and nothing else the next six months.

This is a big part of the reason why Washington is such a total f*&^ up nowadays. Folks are too busy tossing turds to get real things done.

Poor Rush. I'll shed a tear for him sometime, LOL.

Can Barack Tell Them To Lay Off?
Alex Knapp | Monday, May 19, 2008

Marc Ambinder ponders this bit of campaign trivia:

Does Barack Obama believe that he can have his wife campaign for him in public and then also claim anything she says is out of bounds?

I’m sure he doesn’t believe it. To a certain extent, that extent being what she says on the campaign trail, I think that attacking any of Michelle Obama’s statements is fair political game for the McCain campaign or for the GOP in general.

That said, fair or not, Obama telling the GOP to “lay off his wife” just demonstrates old fashioned campaign savvy–it’s a no-brainer retort and scores easy political points. It’s the campaign equivalent of making a slam dunk when you’ve made a fast break into an open court. No matter how much his political rivals protest afterwards, they’re going to come across to the vast majority of people as unfair and sleazy, despite the fact that what they’re doing may well be legitimate. Frankly, Obama would have been an idiot not to do so after the first anti-Michelle Obama ads came out.
