me, too, but they're not retraining these people. Lindy says, correctly, that NY is a union Democratic state and that's why it hasn't retooled. Mid-state is becoming a place for the city people to have weekend homes. Upstate has been dying my entire life, but that doesn't explain the mid-west.

Indiana isn't democrat and it's a wasteland of hollowed out and abandoned auto plants. Ohio, Michigan, the entire rust belt is a disaster, and you can't blame it all on the states. It's been on-going since the 70's.

My point is that for all the endless talk about retraining workers, I don't see it. All the cities and towns say they're getting wired for high-tech industry and biotechnology and yet it revitalization never happens.

At the same time, the remaining hard labor jobs are being taken over by lower paid Hispanics and the whites are left to join with the black, living on welfare. And, yes, by and large these are people holding only a high school degree.

they voted Republican on social issues and what did it get them? The thing that amazes me is how long suffering the real working people are.
