I think it is meaningful that the approval of the Congress is less.

There in general a fair amount of negativity in politics right now.

If you don't like some political agenda, than the people who support it are pushing the US on the wrong track, if you DO like the agenda, than the people talking about supporting it are still looked as negatively because they haven't been effective enough in pushing it.

I won't argue that there is lots of blame to go around, but when this thread started almost three years ago, we were needled by some for being too anti-Bush. Since then, his approval ratings have done a Titanic, to historically bad levels.

Congress is certainly worse. But Bush's performance, the issue at hand, has been dreadful by all measures except those in his loyal base. The numbers show that pretty clearly.

Frankly, I expect Congress to be stupid most of the time on most issues. If they ever do better, it will be a pleasant surprise for me.
