The whole point is to avoid the personal attack altogether, not try to for an acceptable degree of nasty.

Both comments say that the other side's supporters are mindless, gullible and stupid. A total dialogue stopper that serves no useful purpose.

You can parse which word is higher on your offensiveness scale, that wasn't my point. And the "dipstick" line was purely for illustration, not something I would ever post seriously here.
