Its use in such vaccines is being phased out. Parents do have the option of specifying that their children not be given vaccines preserved with thimerosal. 3 - There is no real evidence proving a link between vaccinations and autism. I know a lot of parents of autistic children believe there is a link, and some doctors do, too. But the hard evidence just isn't there. My girlfriend has an autistic daughter. She is one of a pair of twins. Both children received the same vaccinations, from the same batches, on the same schedule. I know of at least one other case of twins who received the same vaccinations on the same schedule, where one child is autistic and the other isn't. I love both of my girlfriend's children very much, just FYI. They are both bright and delightful, each in her own way. - Allen
