Organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Russia, thousands of overseas Chinese held a fundraiser in Moscow on Thursday to assist victims of the quake. Funds collected will be donated to quake-hit regions via the Chinese embassy in Russia.

Another donation committee has been set up in London by the overseas Chinese community there. The committee is calling on all Chinese compatriots in Britain to offer help to the needy in quake-hit areas. The Chinese Embassy in Britain has even set up a special account at the Bank of China for donations.

In France, donations totaling over nine million yuan were collected by Chinese communities in the first three days after Monday's quake.

And in Germany, a Chinese student union has posted a message on its website urging Chinese living there to contribute money to the relief effort.

Meanwhile, donations boxes and fund-raising drives have been held by Chinese embassies in countries including Argentina, Brazil, Italy and Thailand. Many China-funded enterprises abroad have also taken part.
