You , of course, are speaking for all Americans who are well insured and well looked after.

And demanding, articulate, and connected, and a majority. They will roar. They will be in the news. And their congressmen will hear from them. They won't put up with waits. And they won't put up with treatment-focused service.

It would be nice to see the issue of single payer, put to a national referendum as Switzerland did...to get the true feeling for the issue.

I don't think a poll or a referendum would provide the key info. The idea will look good at a conceptual level. Who wants to see people left without coverage, after all? Mom and apple pie. They won't holler until they're hurt, which will be post implementation, at which time the only recourse will probably be to sink more money into it.
