i am sure some had abuse at home. drunk parents,, mom a hoar. physical abuse.. i am going back to late 40's early 50's i doubt much was done back then. i remember getting a friend to come to school in the morning. and dad would answer the door bombed. i delivered weekly newspapers and some homes i went by you could hear the screaming out in the street. so who knows? We got our best priests and ministers who fooled a lot of people. certainly the parents etc could fool neighbors , teachers et.c back then you didn't get social counsel. ha. i wonder if the title was even created.
