Dan -

I don't think most people know that New York City was once called Nieuw Amsterdam. I lived there for 21 years, so I knew it. I once won a contest to name the internal newspaper for the Vista International Hotel, which was situated between the Twin Towers of the WTC. The management were very big on the whole Nieuw Amsterdam connection.

My winning suggestion was "The Nieuws". Won a hundred bucks.

The Vista International Hotel, which by that time had been sold and had become a Marriott, was heavily damaged by falling debris when the planes hit the towers on 9/11, then completely destroyed when the towers fell.

Gee. That's a downer. I was trying to recall a silly story. Sorry.
