I have to admit that the thought has crossed my mind and even my lips more than once Why kill the goose laying the golden eggs, eh? Boy, that's cynical - if this is what we think of Washington politics - just changing this perception is all Obama has to do to be considered a success.

I doubt that they are much interested in protecting him in any way. Meanwhile, I believe the Bush Administration's failure to capture or kill him has been more a consequence of their incompetence than some kind of conspiracy. They took their eye off the ball. That having been said, obviously I have no way of knowing what really goes on at those levels of international business and political intrigue. - Allen
