<<What does it mean to founder? Spring grass is too rich in what?>>

A horse lives by it's feet. Most of the time they sleep standing up. If they lay down too long they die of gut twisting. If a horse eats a too rich diet it goes to their feet and causes inflamation to where they can't stand. A nursing mare needs a diet of about 16% protein but an older mare tops out at about 12%. This year the grass came in late due to the cold caused by global warming and was higher protein than normal. Wife has two older mares. I can send you the $3k in vet bills this has caused.
